Where is Les Drus?

Les Drus (3,754m) is a granite peak in the Mont Blanc Massif above Chamonix, France. Its near-vertical faces rise approximately 1,000 metres from the surrounding glacier to the summit — a vertical scale that portrait photography captures particularly well, showing the full extent of the peak in a single frame.

How difficult is it to climb Les Drus?

Les Drus has no easy routes — all ascents involve serious technical climbing at altitude. The normal route via the north face is graded TD (Très Difficile) and requires rope work, crampon competence, and experience on mixed rock and ice terrain. The west face routes that were destroyed in the 2005 rockfall were graded ED (Extrêmement Difficile) and represent some of the hardest alpine climbing that existed in the massif.
